Ad hoc pacing?

An opportunity to pace for 3:45 on June 1 has arisen. If I wind up adding that, given some other races I've added to this year's schedule, that will have me hitting 10 marathons this year.

Given I have only been doing some basic running to keep general fitness -- as my training plan for Erie Marathon in Sept doesn't kick off for more than another week -- I'm a drop tentative. I'm pretty sure I should be able to handle it, but I'm holding off confirming until after I do my long run (20 miles) tomorrow.

Favorable factors for the race: It's almost totally downhill. Yay!

Unfavorable factors for the race: 1) It's June -- it may wind up being a bit of a scorcher late in the race. (Right now, the week before the race is showing an overnight low of 59 and a high of 77.) Hopefully it's a pretty shady route, which would definitely help. But those temps can quickly sap the energy from you. 2) It's mostly hard-packed rock, rather than paved road. Not something I'm used to running on for any particular distance. So long as it isn't too jagged, I think I should be ok. And hopefully it will not be raining during the race or the day before -- I can foresee the trail being quick slick if it rains enough.
