Seems I'm back on track with my long runs. Just completed the 18 miles earlier, and I had no problem with the pace (15 seconds under MP -- reasonable for a long training run). It very well may be, at least in part, because of not having skipped using the Normatec boots any evening this week. Those definitely help with recovery, so there's no good reason for my skipping a day using them.
Less than 2 weeks until I pace for the first time for New York Road Runners! Looking forward to the 12-mile training run in Central Park (and then seeing The Outsiders later that afternoon). I'm hoping that a successful result will help get me onto the marathon pace team -- though I suspect that won't be the case for the upcoming marathon in November, but maybe a subsequent one, especially if I manage other races or training runs for them.
And just over 1 month until my training cycle ends with Erie. Thankfully, now that Boston tightened their standards by 5 minutes, the pace team has a 3:15 pacer for Erie. So, the plan is to stick with him until about Mile 24-25 and then slowly pull forward. Hoping for cool enough weather that will enable that.
